Frequently Asked Questions About Pole Dancing

What are the benefits of pole dancing?

Pole dancing is a full body workout combining body weight resistance, stretching, calisthenics, and gymnastics. Pole fitness can be a great way to build muscle and improve flexibility while becoming part of a diverse, accepting community. Increased self-esteem and body confidence is often seen among pole dancers.

What can I expect at my first class?

Your first pole dancing class can sometimes feel a bit intimidating. Our instructors are extremely welcoming and will help you have a great first class. Each class includes a brief warm up, conditioning, and cool down. Prepare to have fun in a non-competitive, safe environment! Click here to check out our current class schedule

What classes can I use my Introductory Offer on?

The Intro Offer is a great way to try a few different beginner pole classes at Fly Fitness! Beginner Fundamentals, Handstand Lab, Choreo 1, Floorwork 1, Everything Inverts, Flexibility, and Dancer Stretch are all beginner-friendly classes. We recommend taking Beginner Fundamentals a few times first to get used to moving on and around the pole.

Are your instructors certified?

Yes. Every pole fitness instructor at Fly Fitness Aerial Studio is a professionally certified pole instructor through Xpert Fitness.

Do I need previous experience?

No previous experience is required for our Beginner pole classes. Take a look at our beginner, intermediate and advanced classes and choose which would be best suited for you. Please reach out if you have any questions about which level you are at. Other classes like Choreo will have the requirements in the class description.

How many students are in each class?

The maximum number of students per class is 8 and each class needs a minimum of 4 students to run.

What should I wear to class?

We recommend wearing shorts to all pole classes, including Beginner Fundamentals. Shorts are required as you will need skin to stick to the pole. All classes will be barefoot unless otherwise mentioned in the class description. Don't forget to bring your water bottle!

Do your poles spin?

You bet! We use X-pole stainless steel poles that are static as well as spin poles.

Do you offer bachelorette parties?

Yes. We love hosting birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and corporate team building functions! Click here for more information on booking a private party.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes we do! Click here to purchase a gift card.

Can I put my membership on hold?

With certain restrictions, yes. 4-month memberships cannot be put on hold. Members must inform the studio of their hold by email BEFORE the start date of the hold. Members are not permitted to attend classes during the holding period. *Hold policies only apply to those with a 6-month commitment or longer. Holds are at owner discretion and are not permitted to be used in excessiveness. Usually one hold per membership is permitted without issues. Holds are limited to a maximum of 30 days.*

Do you charge no show fees for missed classes?

Yes. You will be charged a $15 no show fee for any class that you book and do not attend (even members). This is because a pole has been reserved for you and we cannot offer the spot to another student if you do not show up for class.

How does the waitlist work?

If a class is full, add yourself to the waitlist on the Wix app. If a spot becomes available, the system automatically offers the first person on the waitlist the spot. You are given 1 hour to accept or decline the offer. If you decline (or miss the 1 hour window), the next person on the list is offered the spot, and so on. You must have Wix notifications turned on to utilize this feature as emails are not sent for waitlist availability.

Are men welcome in your studio?

Of course! We are an all-inclusive studio, based on mutual respect and acceptance regardless of race or gender identity.

Are sex workers welcome in your studio?

Yes, absolutely. We fully recognize that pole dance fitness has deep roots in the work of sex workers, and we honour the contributions they've made to the evolution of pole as an art form and a fitness discipline. Our studio is a welcoming space for all people, regardless of their background, profession, or identity. We believe in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can feel empowered to explore their movement, strength, and confidence without judgment.

How old must I be to attend?

Participants must be 18 years or older to attend our studio, due to the sensual nature of some of our classes.

Do you sell pole grip aid at your studio?

Yes! We have Dry Hands and Dew Point available for purchase.
